Terms of use

lookahead is a speedcubing training and analytics app run by Patryk Kowalczyk ("we"), a private individual based in Poland, reachable at privacy@lookahead.to. These terms are the rules for using it. How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy.

What lookahead offers

A timer and training tools for speedcubing, statistics and analysis of your solves, algorithm learning, races against other players, support for smart cubes, and official WCA results. Using the app is currently free; if paid plans are introduced, you will see their terms and prices before buying. You can join a race as a guest without an account.

Technical requirements

  • An internet connection and a current version of a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari) with JavaScript enabled.
  • For an account: an email address, or a Google account.
  • For smart cubes and Bluetooth timers: a browser with Web Bluetooth, which today means Chrome or Edge on desktop or Android.

Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use lookahead.
  • The agreement starts when you create an account and lasts until it is deleted. You can end it at any time, free of charge, by deleting your account in Settings → Data & privacy.
  • Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.

Fair use

Please don't:

  • post or upload content that is illegal, or that infringes other people's rights;
  • use nicknames that are abusive, hateful or impersonate someone else;
  • try to break, overload or get around the security of the app, or access other people's data;
  • scrape the app or its API in bulk, or use it to send spam.

If you break these rules, we may remove the content in question, or suspend or delete your account. Unless it is urgent, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to respond.

Your content

Your solves, sessions and uploads stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only as far as needed to run the app for you, and to show them to others where you choose to, for example in races or on your competitor page.

WCA data

Official results come from the World Cube Association's public results export. lookahead is not affiliated with or endorsed by the WCA, and the WCA's own website remains the authoritative source for official results.

The service

lookahead is provided "as is". We work to keep it available and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors, and features may change or be removed. Keep your own exports of anything you can't afford to lose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for data loss beyond what we cause by gross negligence or on purpose. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

Complaints

If something doesn't work as described here, write to privacy@lookahead.to with a short description of the problem and the email of your account, if you have one. We will reply within 14 days.

Changes

We may update these terms, for example when the app changes or the law requires it. We will tell signed-in users about any change at least 14 days before it takes effect, in the app or by email. If you don't accept the new terms, you can delete your account before then; using the app after the change takes effect means you accept it.

Law

These terms are governed by Polish law, without depriving you of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in.
